The goal of this project was to create a service that enhances a potentially neighborhood-like experience. We chose to focus on the community aboard an airplane, a forced situation that demands tolerance and a protective sense of privacy.
To turn a community of circumstance into a community of shared interests without a coercion, we set up a virtual reality space that allows communication between passengers.
Passengers can communicate through a touch-screen on the back of the seat in front of them. Personal information, including destination, would only be shown if a user chooses to allow that information. The users have no way of finding out who is who through this service, and it is up to each individual user to know more about the stranger through this networking service.
